Keeping Fit at Home

NHS Fitness Studio Exercise Videos24 instructor-led videos including aerobics, strength & resistance,  pilates and yoga. There's even a beginner's belly dancing video! All free.

Fitness Blender - have hundreds of free workout videos covering every aspect of fitness at 5 levels of difficulty.

​

Orangetheory Fitness - is offering a different, free 30 minute work out each day. The focus is on training endurance, strength & power. 

​

 Tai Chi for Beginners - if you are looking for something gentler,  the directions on this video are really clear and easy to follow. There are also a couple of videos for people with arthritis & other mobility problems.

Advice on How to Cope with Stress & Anxiety

 

The Secret of Calm -  some very practical coping strategies, whether you have 1, 5, 10, 20 minutes or 14 days to spare.

MIND - have a wealth of suggestions on taking care of your mental health & wellbeing, especially if you are having to spend more time at home.

Guided Breathing Exercise - a 5 minute video that shows you how to use your breath to reduce stress

Family Learning Resources

'Family Lockdown Tips & Ideas' -  Facebook site with loads of activities for kids

​

Nrich - a great range of games and practical activities devised to encourage the development of children's mathematical reasoning & problem solving for both primary & secondary age pupils. Highly recommended

 

Audible - are streaming loads of children's audiobooks (and a few for adults) for free whilst schools are closed. 

​

Book Trust -  have a great selection of storybooks to read online as well as storytime videos, games & activities, mostly for younger kids. However, their Home Time page has lots of quizzes, drawing activities, recipes, etc. to suit older childrem.

​

STEM Learning - STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) are offering free resources for home learning. There are some excellent ideas for projects, such as 'Movies & Magic' and 'Moon Camp Challenge,' but they will need some adult input, at least to start with.

​
